May God be merciful and bless us. May his face smile with favor on us. (Psalm 67:1, NLT)
mom_baby_beautiful.jpg Have you notice how new parents act with their new baby? It’s funny to me, but cute. Everything that their baby does gives them so much joy. They’re excited and proud. They giggle and smile over every little thing from poopy diapers to spit ups. They ooh and aahh over their baby, like proud parents should. Every aspect of their newborn brings them so much joy and wonder. It’s beautiful to see. I remember when my husband and I were new parents. I had given birth to this fragile, beautiful baby girl. We were awe-struck. Our daughter was so beautiful to us (both of our children still are!)! All I could do was smile down at her and tell her how much I love her. I couldn’t believe I was a mom. I had given birth to a baby!
My husband and I had created this special creator. Wow! And we were going to protect our baby, keep her safe and not let anyone or anything hurt her. As I held her in my arms, so in loved, I’d study her facial features and giggle with joy at the different faces she made. I’d look at her cute little toes, tiny fingers, itty bitty ears, cute lips and her little bottom. We were just mesmerized by everything she did! We were like that with our second baby, our son, but with the first child, it was a little different because everything was so new. I was a new mom who had all those new emotions. So, of course, as a first time parent, we googooed, aahhed, made silly sounds, smile and giggled with joy over every little thing our baby did. She was our babygirl!
How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered!I can’t even count them;they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me! (Ps. 139:17-18, NLT)
God feels the same way about you and I. He cradles us in His arms and looks down upon us with such joy and so much love. Like a proud parent, He smiles down on us with excitement and pleasure. He created us and He knows all the plans He has for us. All of His plans are good, not evil, but will give us a future that we’ve hoped for (Jer. 29:11). Isn’t that wonderful! He knows our future. We’re His children and He knows all about us! He knows every tiny detail about our lives (Ps. 139:1-16). Before we were formed in our mother’s womb, before our parents came together, God knew us (Jer. 1:5; Isa. 49:1; Rom. 8:29)! He called us, preordained us, and chose us to be a holy nation for Him. He knows what we will become. He knows what we like and what makes us happy and what gives us joy. He knows what makes us sad, afraid and those things that concern us. He knows and feels and can relate to our pain. He understands our sufferings (Heb. 2:18)!
O Lord, you have examined my heartand know everything about me.You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. (Ps. 139:1-2, NLT)
God knows our thoughts, our dreams and desires. He’s at work in our lives giving us the power and strength to accomplish those dreams. He has given us the will to do what is pleasing to Him (Phil. 2:13). And if we take delight in the Lord, He will give us the desires and secret petitions of our hearts (Ps. 37:4, AMP). That’s incredible! We belong to God, and oh, how He cares deeply for us. Even though, as a loving parent, I made a promise to protect my daughter and son, to keep them safe, it is an impossible promise for me to keep. I cannot be with my children 24/7, but my heavenly Father sure can and He will. Our great God always watches over His children. The Believer has precious promises from the Lord, and He promises to keep them all (2 Cor. 1:19-21).
Today, my sister, God is with you! He’s smiling down on you. He’s shining His glorious face upon you! He’s watching over you, protecting you. At this very moment, God is at work in your life to do His good pleasure! He wants to give you the desires of your heart. He sees you and He knows what you stand in need of. He knows what you’re going through and what you’ve been through. The Father knows your suffering and because our Savior suffered for us, God is able (more than able!) to immediately run to our rescue! And He will run to our rescue! Amen!
May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.’ (Num. 6:24-26, NLT)
