Let’s be honest. It’s easy for us to focus on what we don’t have. It’s so easy to dwell on the things that we want and the things we wish we could have, but God doesn’t want us to deny, disregard, or complain about what He has given us.
God blesses us with so many things, but we turn around and complain. He gives us food to eat, but we complain about having a taste for something else. He pays all of our bills, but we complain about how much money we’ll have left over. He blesses us with transportation, but we complain about wanting another car. He blesses us with healthy children, but we complain about how much they’re getting on our nerves. He blesses us with a place to live, but we complain about it not being big enough or we wish we could live someplace else.
Now when the people complained, it displeased the LORD; for the LORD heard it, and His anger was aroused…. (Num. 11:1a, NKJV)
The more God blesses us, the more we find things to complain about. He constantly gives, but we constantly take while grumbling and pouting. How long will we keep denying His blessings? God gives us blessings upon blessings and it’s like we slap His hand away and saying, “Is that all You have?” We look for more. We lust after other things when God wants us to appreciate every blessing that He gives.
Let’s not deny any more of our Father’s blessings by whining and protesting. Instead, let’s appreciate everything He does and see the beauty in each one.
What will I give to the Lord [in return] For all His benefits toward me? [How can I repay Him for His precious blessings?] (Ps. 116:12, AMP)
Sisters, it’s Thankful Thursday. Let us give thanks unto our Lord who blesses us beyond measure!
Pray this prayer: Father, we thank You for all of Your blessings. Forgive us for complaining about what we don’t have. Help us to appreciate every gift that You give us. We praise You and we thank You for being a Father who gives good gifts to His children.
