I have discovered that when we make a commitment to God, the enemy hears us and begins plotting. He starts attacking our families, our finances, our jobs, our bodies, and our minds. Whatever and whomever he can attack, he does! When we open up our mouth and announce we’re going to do something for God, the enemy brings out all his tricks. He wants to stop us!
I’ve made a commitment to the Lord to be faithful to this devotional ministry. To be honest, it has been very hard, extremely hard. Some days I’m crying, some days I’m excited! Some days I’m angry, some days I’m rejoicing! Some days I’m discouraged and frustrated, while other days I’m inspired and hopeful! Whatever type of emotions or feelings you can think of, I experience them.
Sometimes I feel burdened down with this assignment God has given me. Because I made a commitment to God, I keep going. However, the enemy keeps going, too! He does whatever he can to stop me from sending Walking in Freedom! Devotionals out, but I won’t stop. I may hit road blocks. I might have some delays, but I’m committed to this assignment.
PSALM 40:6-8 AMP Sacrifice and meal offering You do not desire, nor do You delight in them; You have opened my ears and given me the capacity to hear [and obey Your word]; Burnt offerings and sin offerings You do not require. Then I said, “Behold, I come [to the throne];In the scroll of the book it is written of me.“I delight to do Your will, O my God;Your law is within my heart.”
My friend, may I share with you three things the Lord told me? I know it’ll encourage you to stay committed just like I was encouraged.
Continue to be prayerful. Praying is our weapon in this Christian journey (Eph. 6:18). We have to keep talking to God. Prayer always works, but it doesn’t work if we don’t use it!
1 THESSALONIANS 5:17 KJV Pray without ceasing.
Stay in My Word. God’s Word strengthens us when we’re weak. His Word is our lamp that refuels and reinvigorates us to stay on this crazy and exciting journey called Life!
PSALM 119:47-50 MSGI cherish your commandments-oh, how I love them!- relishing every fragment of your counsel. Remember what you said to me, your servant- I hang on to these words for dear life! These words hold me up in bad times; yes, your promises rejuvenate me.
Get an accountability partner. Find a spiritual mentor, someone you trust. A person who will hold you accountable, be real with you – not sugarcoat anything – but will tell you when you’re wrong. Your mentor will push you, cheer for you, pray for you, and life you up. When you want to stop or feel like quitting, your accountability partner will motivate you to keep going.
PROVERBS 18:24 MSG Friends come and friends go, but a true friend sticks by you like family.
PROVERBS 27:17 MSGYou use steel to sharpen steel, and one friend sharpens another.
Sisters, we opened our mouths and made a declaration – a commitment – to the Lord. Now, we must remain committed. Keep our war clothes on (Eph 6:10-20). Be alert (1 Pet. 5:8). Keep looking up and stay prayed up (Heb. 12:1-3)!
Let’s walk in freedom with confidence, being devoted to Christ and to the call He has on our lives!
Your sis,
Rhovonda
It’s Wednesday- Hump Day! Here’s a biblical principle to help us get over the hump!
HEBREWS 12:1-2 ERV We have all these great people around us as examples. Their lives tell us what faith means. So we, too, should run the race that is before us and never quit. We should remove from our lives anything that would slow us down and the sin that so often makes us fall. We must never stop looking to Jesus.
FREEDOM SCRIPTURE
EPHESIANS 6:13-18 MSG Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.
